This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we need everyone’s support to help us reach our $50,000 school fundraising goal!

What do I need to do to participate?

1. REGISTER on Pledgestar

2. SEND Donation Requests to Friends and Family

3. READ and log your minutes

Instructions to register on Pledgestar:

Using your computer's browser:

• Go to http://pledgestar.com/oceanairreads
• Click “Not Registered For This Year’s Event”
• Enter your name and email address, then click “Submit”
• Follow the instructions on-screen to register Reader(s) and add family and friends

Using your Android or Apple phone or tablet:

• Go to the Apple App Store on IOS or the Amazon App Store on Android and search for "PledgeStar" to download the Family App, or go to https://pledgestar.com/oceanairreads/downloadapp.html
• On the home screen enter your event code: “oceanairreads” to locate your event
• Click “Not Registered For This Year’s Event”
• Enter your name and email address, then click “Submit”
• Follow the instructions on-screen to register Reader(s) and add family and friends

When you finish, the system emails pledge requests to your family and friends, and allows them to make secure credit card donations online. You get notified each time a pledge is made, and you can track your pledge progress online.

Please note the Corporate Matching option on the donations page of Pledgestar. Corporate matches are an important piece of the Ocean Air PTA's fundraising and we greatly appreciate your employers contributions. Only corporate match donations received by the Readathon donation deadline of Sunday October 22nd 8pm will be counted toward prize distribution.

Activity Details

Kickoff Assembly

• Friday 10/13, 1:30-2pm on the blacktop for all OA students
• Short skit performed by the Shark and the Dad’s club
• Teachers will distribute 1 bookmark and 1 sticker to each student.  
• Please have students keep the bookmark at school for the daily "Guess Where" riddle activity

Guest Author

• Local author, Julianna Anthony will share her book “Entre Amigos” with Ocean Air students
• Parents can order the book online by Tuesday October 17th and they will be delivered at the assembly
• Assembly at school on Thursday 10/19 in the MUR
  • Will read book and have a few minutes for Q&A
  • Student questions need to be written on a notecard and ready prior to the assembly

Diesel Book Fair

• Saturday-Sunday 10/14-10/15 
• Diesel Bookstore in Del Mar Highlands
• Mention Ocean Air at checkout (in store only) and 20% of sales get donated back to Ocean Air PTA 

Guess Where Activity

• Where did the Shark and Dad’s Club go surfing?!
• Each day Mrs. Berntsen will make an announcement with a geography riddle
• Students collaborate to figure out the clue and record on their Readathon bookmark
• Final destination will be revealed on Monday 10/23 

Lunch Activities

• Monday, Wednesday and Friday during lunch 
• Grades 1-6 - guest character DJ dance party
• Kindergarten -  bubble palooza in the kinder lunch area.

Mom’s Pizza Restaurant Night

• Thursday 10/19

• 20% of proceeds are donated back to Ocean Air PTA
